Collection of Personal Information

I consent to Renti collecting, using and disclosing my personal information as stipulated below; and I am aware of the terms and conditions set out below in the disclaimer and have read the Privacy Policy on the renti.co website. I confirm that the names provided in the application, and the supporting form of identification used to verify my identity are accurate and not misleading, counterfeit or false.

  • Verifying any information that I give to Renti (or information that we may collect from other sources) with third parties and third party databases, including Government Agencies (for example NZ Transport Authority).
  • Carrying out a credit check on the names provided within the application and subsequently verified through an acceptable form of identification, with a credit reporting agency to assess my creditworthiness as a prospective tenant.
  • Checking the Ministry of Justice fines database for any overdue fines to assess creditworthiness. In order to complete these checks; you consent to Renti providing your personal information to the Ministry of Justice.
  • My drivers license information may also be disclosed to a credit reporting agency and the Ministry of Justice as part of the checks Renti undertakes with them.

Disclaimer: Renti collects personal information on the tenant, which includes ID, credit, affordability and background checks that is used by the property manager and landlord to determine who is the best fit for renting their property. At all times with client interaction with the Renti platform, Renti is observing the Privacy Principles to ensure only the required information is provided and any private or personal information is stored safely and removed in accordance with the Privacy Act, Humans Right Act and the Residential Tenancies Act. We only collect Personal Information that is necessary (i) for the purposes of the Services, (ii) for the performance of a contract for which you are a party, (iii) for which you have given consent for such processing of your data, or (iv) for compliance with a legal obligation to which we are subject.

Your personal information will be protected with the highest levels of standards and can be removed on your request. The Privacy Act governs how we handle your personal information and The Privacy Act 2020 governs how we handle your personal credit information.
